Yana Weinstein and Megan Smith are two woman’s who met each other on their university, but they hadn’t really been in touch until January. They met each other they again when Yara started randomly tweeting at Twitter to help students with learning. They got talking and created a hashtag.  Later they created a website called learningscientists.org . They want to teach students how to learn better.

They talk about 6 learn strategy’s :

• Spaced practice
• Retrieval practice
• Elaboration
• Interleaving
• Concrete examples
• Dual coding

Today am I going to tell you something about the learning strategy called ‘spaced practice’.

With this method you won’t forget the information directly. When you learn you need to break up studying when you’re working with this method. You break up for a couple days, weeks or even months. You forget a bit of the information you’ve learned, you learn step by step a little bit at the time, and then when you ‘relearn’ it you get to know the information better and it helps your memory.

You could also look at notes from a week ago or a month and study that and not some recently information.

Spaced practice is about that you can’t start learning a day before the test because it is too late to space and you won’t remember the informative that good as when you learn with the spaced practice method. This method requires planning and that is pretty helpful for some persons.

Hello, my name is Indy van Dijken and I am 15 years old. I was born in Groningen on the 4 of September in 2003.

I live in Uithuizen, there are some supermarkets, chemist’s, bookstores and some other stores. In Uithuizen is also a train station, three primary schools, a secondary school, gym, sport fields and more. In my neighbourhood live many older people, but also some families with young kids. In Uithuizen are detached houses, semi-detached houses, flats and terraced houses.

My biggest achievement is that I attend a school of pre-university education in Warffum. I am in the fourth grade. I have English, Dutch, math, history, geography, German, economy and business economics. The students are very nice. My classmates are also nice persons. I have some friends in my own class, but also in others. Most of the teachers are nice, but some of them are less nice. My school building is built by an architect. The ambiance at school is very good, everybody is kind to each other. After school can you follow some activities, what school most of the times has organised. For instance can you follow a course about making good photos.

My family consists of my father, mother and brother. My mother’s name is Janine, she is 44 years old. She works at the municipality. She has dark hair and is a very sweet mom. My mother went to the same school as I do now. My father his name is Herman, he is also 44 years old. He is a carpenter at a company in Uithuizen. My father also has dark hair and went for a couple years to this school. My brother’s name is Jack, he is 12 years old. He is in his first year on this school. I have a pretty good band with him, we can do very crazy, but also fight with each other. With birthdays many family members come to visit. Most of my family members live near Uithuizen, but one of my uncles lives in Limburg and one in Drenthe. I don’t see them a lot. It is always very cozy when I’m with my family. I have two grandmothers, one grandfather, tree uncles, tree cousins and two nieces.

I have friends at school, but I also have friends from Uithuizen. Most of them do I know already around the five or six years. Some do I know from primary school or from my soccer team. I know Aniek for instance already from the first group on my primary school, she became my best friend.  We have done a lot together. With some of the persons I went to primary school am I still having contact now.  Almost every weekend do I hang out with my friends. We talk, listen to music, sometimes we watch a movie or we go to a party. My best friends are Aniek and Nicky. I got to know Aniek at my primary school and Nicky at my secondary school. My others friends are Eva, Annemarie, Iris, Dunia, Amber, Maud, Joelle, Mathilde, Vera, Sterre and some more people from school. Most of my friends did I get to know at this school.

My hobbies are doing things with my friends, watching movies or series on Netflix and soccer. I have every Monday and Wednesday training and (almost) every Saturday a match. Most of the persons in my team are friends of my, who live in Uithuizen or villages around Uithuizen.

When I was 7 years old I had a car accident, I was hit by a car and had a mild concussion. I slept one night in the hospital and the next they did they let me go home.

Over 10 years am I 25 years old. I think that I will be busy with my study or I might have just finished. I will be partying with my friends, and I am working. I probably live in Groningen.
